Arrests included: 5 for public intoxication, 5 warrant arrests, 3 for possessing methamphetamine for sale, 2 for drug influence and/or possessing drug paraphernalia, 2 for possessing methamphetamine, and 1 each for; possessing a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, domestic violence, and vandalism. Probation or parole holds were placed on 4 of these arrests.
Officers investigated 3 hit and run traffic collisions, one traffic collision, and one death. Two vehicles were impounded for 30 days due to the drivers being suspended or unlicensed.
Officers took reports of: 5 found property, 4 child neglect, 3 vandalisms, 3 burglaries, 3 thefts, and 1 each of; missing person, domestic violence, recovered stolen vehicle, child endangerment, battery, embezzlement, threats, indecent exposure, and animal bite.
Officers assisted the Mendocino Major Crimes Task Force with several narcotics related investigations and the service of a search warrant on an indoor marijuana growing operation, and provided safety information to the staff at Veterans Affairs.
Highlights for the Week
On May 19th at about 11:10 PM Ukiah Police contacted 45 year old Agustin Luna Amador, of Willits, and 44 year old Gina Louise Leloup, of Ukiah, in a parking lot in the 300 block of North Main Street. Amador initially identified himself with a different first name, and was later determined to be on parole with a warrant for his arrest for violating that parole. Amador possessed less than a gram of methamphetamine in a pants pocket and he was found to be under the influence, and was arrested. Leloup was also found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was also arrested. While at the Ukiah Police Department being processed, Amador was seen trying to discard a syringe and was additionally charged with possessing drug paraphernalia. Additional methamphetamine weighing less than a gram was located inside Amador’s jacket.
On May 20th at about 2:35 PM Ukiah Police stopped a vehicle being driven by 39 year old Tina Renee Durham, of Covelo, in the 1300 block of North State Street. Durham’s passenger, later identified as 46 year old Alfredo Medina-Ortega, had already exited the vehicle and entered a near-by convenience store. Durham was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance, and her driver’s license was suspended, and she was arrested. Medina was contacted as he exited the store and was found to be on probation, and also under the influence of a controlled substance and was also arrested. Medina had been seen in the store’s restroom, and a search revealed Medina had hidden nearly 10 grams of methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe in the restroom. Medina was charged with drug influence, possessing drug paraphernalia, and possessing and transporting methamphetamine for sale.
On May 20th at about 7:20 PM Ukiah Police contacted 27 year old Jessie Lee Lucas, who had a warrant for his arrest, in the 800 block of South State Street. Lucas was arrested and found to have a throwing knife concealed within his clothing. Lucas also possessed several tablets of morphine, a commonly abused prescription narcotic. Lucas was charged with possessing a dangerous weapon and possessing a narcotic, and was booked into the County Jail.
On May 21st about 12:25 AM Ukiah Police contacted the three occupants of a vehicle parked in the 200 block of West Gobbi Street. Two of the occupants; 53 year old Darla Kaye Platte and 33 year old Thomas Matthew Curry, both of Ukiah, displayed symptoms of drug influence. Both were determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance, and arrested. A search of the vehicle and Platte’s purse revealed less than a gram of methamphetamine and a methamphetamine smoking pipe. Platte was additionally charged with possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia
. On May 21st about 4:30 AM the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office requested Ukiah Police Officers assist a Deputy Sheriff with the investigation of a suspicious vehicle on Despina Drive.
On May 23rd at about 3:15 PM the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office requested Ukiah Police Officers respond to a reported gang fight in the 1400 block of South State Street.
On May 23rd at about 9:00 PM Ukiah Police stopped a vehicle being driven by 30 year old Katherine Elisabeth Larsen, on Talmage Road near Airport Park Boulevard. Several full and consumed containers of alcohol were seen inside the vehicle, and Larsen was found to have been drinking. Larsen was determined to be too intoxicated to drive and was arrested for DUI. Larsen was on probation and prohibited from consuming alcohol, and was required to drive a vehicle equipped with an ignition interlock device, which there was not in this vehicle. Larsen was additionally charged with violation of probation and driving without the required interlock device.
On May 24th at about 1:30 AM Ukiah Police responded to the Wal Mart parking lot, at 1155 Airport Park Boulevard, regarding two subjects camping in the grassy area. One of the subjects was cooperative and left after being asked, however 20 year old Dustin Andrew Golyer refused to leave. An opened container of beer was located near Golyer, and he was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for public intoxication. Golyer possessed a tablet of prescription medication, but could not provide proof of having been prescribed the medication, and was charged with illegally possessing prescription drugs. Golyer became further belligerent and physically resistive once placed into the patrol car and began hitting his head against the car, requiring he be further restrained before being booked into the County Jail.
On May 26th the Ukiah Police Department responded to a Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office call of a violent subject vandalizing the inside of the USA convenience store in the 1300 block of North State Street, and detained the suspect until Deputy Sheriff’s arrived.
