Statistics

Arrests included: 8 for public intoxication, 6 for shoplifting, 5 for violating probation or parole, 5 warrant arrests, 4 for domestic violence, 3 for drug influence and/or possessing drug paraphernalia, 2 for assault with a dangerous weapon, 2 for possession of a narcotic, and 1 each for; resisting arrest, possessing marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, embezzlement, burglary, possession of a dangerous weapon, assault, and child endangerment. Probation or parole holds were placed on 4 of these arrests.

Officers investigated 2 hit and run traffic collisions, and one traffic collision. One vehicle was impounded for 30 days due to the driver being suspended or unlicensed.

Officers took reports of: 7 found property, 6 vandalisms, 4 burglaries, 2 transportation of marijuana, 2 child neglect, 2 identity theft, and 1 each of; domestic violence, suicidal subject, missing person, abandoned vehicle, animal bite, child endangerment, stolen vehicle, assault with a dangerous weapon, and fraud.

Highlights for the Week

On June 2nd at about 7:35 PM Ukiah Police responded to the Alex Thomas Plaza at 300 South State Street, regarding a domestic violence incident. The male and female subjects were located walking on East Clay Street and identified as 19 year old Cesley Danielle Williams, of Hopland, and a 17 year old male juvenile of Ukiah. It was determined Williams had struck the male juvenile in the face at least twice, and she was arrested for domestic violence. The male juvenile became enraged at Williams being arrested, and had to be detained as he walked towards the arresting officer in an angry and threatening manner. The male juvenile tried to pull away and continued trying to charge the arresting officer, and was held against the patrol vehicle where he began beating his head into its hood, causing a large dent. The male juvenile was found to have been drinking, in violation of his probation prohibiting him from doing so. The male juvenile was arrested for resisting arrest, vandalism, and violating his probation and booked into Juvenile Hall. Williams was booked into the County Jail.

On June 2nd at about 9:55 PM Ukiah Police stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of East Perkins Street. The driver, a 60 year old male from Redding, was found to be unlicensed and claimed he was being instructed how to drive by the other occupants. The driver was eventually cited for driving without a license. A passenger in the vehicle, 42 year old David Frank Jr, also of Redding, displayed symptoms of drug influence, and was subsequently found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and arrested. Frank possessed a Vicoden tablet, a commonly abused prescription narcotic, and was determined to be on probation, and was additionally charged with possession of a narcotic and violation of probation, and booked into the County Jail.

On June 3rd at about 12:15 AM Ukiah Police contacted 34 year old James Nathaniel Langton, of Laytonville, in the 1000 block of South State Street. Langton was sweating profusely and displayed other symptoms of drug influence, and was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance. Langton had a zippered pouch on his person, inside of which was a methamphetamine smoking pipe, and less than one gram of methamphetamine. Langton was arrested for being under the influence, and possessing methamphetamine and a methamphetamine smoking pipe.

On June 3rd at about 9:45 AM Ukiah Police responded to the 600 block of North Orchard Avenue regarding a domestic violence incident. The victim was found to have a minor injury to her face, and it was determined 29 year old Sean Alexander Putnam had struck her in the face and pulled her hair. Putnam had left the scene but was located in the 700 block of East Perkins Street. Putnam was arrested for domestic violence, and additionally charged with violating parole, and was booked into the County Jail.

On June 3rd at about 12:35 PM Ukiah Police responded to The Home Depot at 350 North Orchard Avenue regarding embezzlement. It was learned 53 year old Mona Ann Manion, of Clearlake, had repeatedly stolen undisclosed amounts of cash from her cash drawer, periodically during April and May of this year. Manion was arrested for embezzlement, and several tablets of oxycodone, a commonly abused prescription narcotic, were found in her possession. She was additionally charged with possessing a narcotic.

On June 3rd Ukiah Police Officers were assigned a security detail at the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds for the Spring Fair.

On June 4th at about 12:55 PM Ukiah Police responded to the 700 block of South State Street regarding an assault. The victim had significant injuries to his face including a swollen eye, bloody mouth, and various bruising. The victim was taken to the Ukiah Valley Medical Center for treatment. It was determined the suspect, identified as 24 year old Christopher Alan Summerfield, had repeatedly punched the victim in the face after the victim picked up an object Summerfield wanted returned to him. At about 1:45 PM Summerfield was located in the 400 block of South School Street, and was arrested for battery inflicting serious injury.

On June 5th at about 9:45 AM Ukiah Police responded to Safeway at 653 South State Street regarding a female behaving strangely. Officers contacted 30 year old Jessica Jean Hewitt, who was mumbling and speaking incoherently and acting in a bizarre manner. Hewitt was transported to the Ukiah Valley Medical Center for a potential health condition, and was subsequently found to have recently used methamphetamine in violation of her probation. Hewitt was booked into the County Jail where it was discovered Hewitt had secreted a methamphetamine pipe on her person. Hewitt was additionally charged with possessing a methamphetamine smoking pipe.

On June 5th at about 11:10 PM Ukiah Police stopped a vehicle being driven by 30 year old Marta Elizebeth Lopez-Grinsell, of Point Arena, in the 1200 block of North State Street. Lopez-Grinsell had her 13 year old and 4 year old children with her, and displayed symptoms of drug influence. Lopez-Grinsell was found to have used methamphetamine recently, and she was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Lopez-Grinsell’s children were turned over to the custody of Children’s Protective Services. She was additionally charged with child endangerment and booked into the County Jail.

On June 8th at about 2:05 PM Ukiah Police responded to the 600 block of South State Street for a domestic violence incident occurring inside a hotel room. Upon arrival officers could hear yelling and the sound of someone being struck. Officers contacted the victim and 50 year old Saralee Yvonne Lua. Both subjects were intoxicated, and the victim had several bleeding injuries on his face and head. It was determined Lua had struck the victim, and she was arrested for domestic violence. Lua began kicking and hitting her head against the inside of the patrol car, then spit at and struck an officer on the arm with spittle. Lua was additionally charged with battery upon a police officer and booked into the County Jail.

On June 8th at about 3:15 PM Ukiah Police responded to a residence in the 800 block of South Oak Street regarding a domestic violence incident. Upon arrival officers could hear yelling from within the residence, and ultimately located the victim as he was fleeing the residence. The victim had a bleeding injury to his arm. It was determined that 40 year old Tina Joy Nelson had swung a pair of scissors at the victim during an argument, causing the injury. Nelson was arrested for domestic violence and assault with a dangerous weapon, and for violating her probation, and booked into the County Jail.

On June 8th at about 4:50 PM Ukiah Police responded to the 700 block of South State Street regarding a domestic violence incident. The victim reported she had accused 31 year old Joshua Adam Shaw, of Ukiah, of having stolen money from her motel room while she was in the shower. The victim stated Shaw then punched her causing visible injuries to her face, and left the room. Shaw was located in the 100 block of Thomas Street and admitted to being in the room with the victim, however that another couple was also present. Shaw identified the other male as the one who punched the victim after a dispute over missing money. The other couple was ultimately located, and all parties were interviewed further regarding this investigation. All parties provided differing statements, but indicated the victim accused the others of stealing money while the parties were in the room’s shower at differing times, and that the victim punched Shaw and the other male while accusing them of such. Police ultimately determined Shaw had punched the victim in the face, and he was arrested and booked into the County Jail for domestic violence.

On June 8th at about 8:00 PM Ukiah Police responded to the 800 block of South Oak Street regarding a disturbance and subjects attempting to enter a residence. Officers contacted two subjects, one identified as 30 year old Kimberly Sherie Doak, of Willits. Doak stated she was owed money by the resident, and that she would not leave until she was paid. Doak displayed symptoms of drug influence, and was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and arrested. Doak was booked into the County Jail for drug influence and violating her probation.

On June 8th at about 8:35 PM Ukiah Police responded to a report of a panhandler on Talmage Road near Airport Park Boulevard. Officers observed 37 year old Adam Duran Hanson holding a cardboard sign, and advised him of the ordinance prohibiting such activity within city limits. Hanson was found to have been recently discharged from prison in Southern California, and was observed wearing a padlock tied to a shoestring around his neck. Padlocks carried in this fashion are weapons known as “slungshots”, and Hanson was arrested and booked into the County Jail for possessing a dangerous weapon.

On June 8th at about 11:10 PM Ukiah Police responded to the area of 400 East Gobbi Street regarding three suspicious juveniles in the area. Officers contacted the three, and determined a 17 year old female juvenile had been drinking and possessed alcohol in her purse. Also inside her purse was less than one gram of cocaine, and she was found to have used cocaine recently. The juvenile was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall for possessing cocaine and drug influence.

On June 8th at about 11:50 PM Ukiah Police responded to West America Bank at 325 East Perkins Street for a disturbance. Officers saw 70 year old Hector Estrada with his arm pressed between two of the doors and reaching inside the building. Estrada punched towards the face of a janitor, who had to move suddenly to avoid being hit. Estrada was arrested and booked into the County Jail for assault and challenging to fight.
