Arrests included: 12 for public intoxication, 9 for drug influence / drug paraphernalia, 6 for attempted theft of marijuana, 3 warrant arrests, 3 for domestic violence, 3 for violation of probation or parole, 2 for grand theft, and 1 each for burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of imitation methamphetamine for sale, possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of pepper spray by convicted felon, minor in possession of alcohol, and forgery. Probation or parole holds were placed on 5 of these arrests.
Officers investigated 3 traffic collisions, 1 hit and run traffic collision, and 1 injury traffic collision, and took reports of; 6 vandalisms, 5 child neglect, 3 found property, 2 burglaries, 2 stolen vehicles, and 1 each of; robbery, missing person, abandoned vehicle, and elder abuse. One vehicle was impounded for 30 days due to the driver being unlicensed or suspended.
Officers assisted the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol in locating a stolen vehicle with children on-board, and the Ukiah Fire Department with a medical aid.
Highlights for the Week
Beginning Thursday, July 15th, and continuing through Sunday, July 18th, Ukiah Police responded numerous times to Nokomis School, at 495 Washington Avenue, regarding continued occurrences of windows being damaged at the location. The suspects were returning to the school repeatedly at various times during the day and evenings, each time using rocks and other hard objects to break multiple windows. During the course of four days over 50 windows were cracked or broken, causing what is believed to be over $4000.00 in damage.
On Monday July 19th, Ukiah Police Detectives learned two juvenile males had been told by staff to leave the school grounds just prior to the vandalism occurring. Detectives were able to identify the two juveniles, and responded to a residence in the 100 block of Laws Avenue to question a 13 year old male juvenile suspect. The juvenile fled the residence through a window, but was soon located and brought to the Ukiah Police Department for questioning. Later that day Detectives located the second suspect, a 14 year old male juvenile, near his residence in the 1400 block of South State Street. Detectives determined the two juveniles were angry about being told to leave Nokomis school grounds, and returned repeatedly to break the school’s windows. Both juveniles were arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall for vandalism and conspiracy to commit a crime.
On July 16th at about 4:30 AM Ukiah Police responded to a residence in the 1100 block of West Perkins Street regarding the report of multiple subjects observed entering the backyard of the residence. Responding officers located a total of six subjects who were ultimately arrested. 18 year old Marqus Benjamin Macieo was observed walking from some bushes and down the driveway of the residence, and was detained by Police. 18 year old Anthony Douglas Hidalgo was observed in the backyard of the residence, and tried to run from officers before being detained. Four additional subjects; 20 year old Brandon Inez Hidalgo, accompanied by a 15, a 16, and a 17 year male juveniles were contacted walking away from the residence, and were also detained.
Police determined a neighbor had called Police after being awakened by noises, and then observed two of the subjects climb a fence into the backyard while the others remained on the sidewalk. Police contacted the victim, who was unaware the subjects had entered the yard. Police also found over 40 marijuana plants growing in the backyard.
Police determined Macieo and Anthony Hidalgo had entered the yard to steal the marijuana plants, while the remaining subjects acted as “look-outs”. All subjects were arrested for attempted theft, prowling, and conspiracy, and Brandon and Anthony Hidalgo and Macieo were additionally charged with contributing to the delinquency of minors.
On July 18th at about 1600 hours Ukiah Police Officers performed a probation search at the residence of 25 year old Austin Joseph Dalbalcon, in the 800 block of South Oak Street. The Ukiah Police Department’s narcotics detection K-9 assisted with the search, and in locating contraband hidden within a houseplant. Located was a methamphetamine smoking pipe, and approximately 15 grams of what appeared to be methamphetamine. Upon further investigation, police determined the drugs were actually “cut” commonly used to increase the quantity of street drugs. Police also determined Dalbalcon possessed the “cut” intending to sell it as methamphetamine. Dalbalcon was booked into the County Jail for possession of imitation methamphetamine for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of probation.
On July 19th at about 8:25 PM Ukiah Police stopped a vehicle being driven by 27 year old Jeremiah David Rowe, in the 1200 block of South Dora Street. Rowe was found to be under the influence of methamphetamine, and was arrested. A search of the vehicle revealed about 1.5 grams of methamphetamine in three 3 separate packages, a scale commonly used to weigh drugs, and empty packaging material commonly used to package drugs to sell. Rowe was charged with drug influence, possession of methamphetamine for sale, and transportation of methamphetamine, and booked into the County Jail.
On July 20th at about 1:45 AM Ukiah Police contacted 31 year old Jose Alfredo Peredia, who was on parole, in the 300 block of East Gobbi Street. Peredia was found to possess a canister of pepper spray, which he is prohibited from having as a convicted felon. Peredia was arrested and booked into the County Jail for possession of pepper spray by a felon, and violating parole.
On July 21st at about 7:35 PM Ukiah Police attempted to contact 21 year old Marlin Petersen, who was on probation, in the 300 block of East Gobbi Street. Petersen fled from the officer, running onto Marshall Street. The officer pursued Petersen on foot, as Petersen refused commands to stop and began jumping fences and headed eastbound running through private yards. The foot pursuit continued towards Leslie Street, where Petersen was spotted running through the area of 660 Leslie Street. Petersen was finally located and captured with the assistance of a California Highway Patrol Officer, who had responded to assist. Petersen was arrested and booked into the County Jail for resisting law enforcement and violation of probation.
