Statistics

Arrests included:
12 for public intoxication, 3 warrant arrests, 3 for domestic violence, 3 for violation of probation or parole, 2 for resisting arrest, 2 for battery, 2 for drug influence or paraphernalia, 2 for possessing methamphetamine, and 1 each for possession of stolen property, possession of pepper spray by a felon, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and possession of an illegal weapon.
Probation or parole holds were placed on 4 of these arrests.

Officers investigated 3 traffic collisions, 1 hit and run traffic collision, and 1 DUI traffic collision, and took reports of; 4 vandalisms, 4 thefts, 3 burglaries, 3 found property, 2 domestic violence, 2 child neglect, 2 suicidal persons, 2 abandoned vehicles, and 1 each of; rape, missing person, elder abuse, and an animal bite.
Four vehicles were impounded for 30 days due to the driver being unlicensed or suspended.

Highlights for the Week

On July 25th at about 7:45 PM Ukiah Police arrested 38 year old Clarence Christmas, in the 200 block of North Orchard Avenue, for an arrest warrant for violating parole. During a search of Christmas’ belongings, a canister of pepper spray was located. Christmas was booked into the County Jail for possession of pepper spray by a convicted felon and violation of parole.

On July 26th at about 2:15 AM Ukiah Police responded to a residence in the 200 block of Norton Street regarding the report of domestic violence. Police learned the female suspect, 22 year old Peggy Elaine Sessums, had struck the 24 year old male victim in the face causing injury. Sessums had fled the residence but was located and arrested in the 500 block of North State Street. Police found that following the assault, the victim had fired one round from a handgun into the ceiling of the residence, and arrested him as well. Sessums was booked into the County Jail for domestic violence, and the victim was booked for negligent discharge of a firearm.

On July 27th at about 7:10 PM Ukiah Police responded to a residence in the 900 block of North Oak Street for a report of an intoxicated subject throwing items in the residence, and causing a disturbance. Upon arrival Police contacted 24 year old Tasha Marie Ornelas, and found her to be intoxicated. Ornelas was also on probation and prohibited from drinking alcohol. Ornelas was arrested and booked into the County Jail for violation of probation.

On July 27th at about 11:10 PM Ukiah Police stopped a vehicle being driven by 57 year old Richard Leon Teague, in the 200 block of Laws Avenue. Teague was found to be under the influence of methamphetamine, and on active probation. Teague was found to possess less than one gram of methamphetamine inside his pants pocket. A search of Teague’s vehicle revealed multiple hypodermic syringes used to inject illicit drugs. Teague was arrested and booked into the County Jail for possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and drug influence.

On July 28th at about 5:30 AM Ukiah Police responded to the Ukiah Valley Medical Center’s Emergency Room to contact a victim of domestic violence. Police learned the 37 year old female victim had been struck in the head by the suspect, 36 year old Nathan Isreal Massey. The victim had sustained minor injuries from the assault, and requested a protective order that would restrain Massey from contacting the victim. Police responded to a residence within the City of Ukiah where Massey was suspected of being, but found he had left the location. At about 6:15 PM the same day Ukiah Police located and arrested Massey in the 200 block of East Gobbi Street. The protective order was served restraining Massey from the victim, and he was booked into the County Jail for domestic violence.

On July 28th at about 11:30 PM Ukiah Police responded to a residence in the 800 block of South Oak Street regarding a reported disturbance. Police observed 34 year old Luis Alberto Ramirez walking away from the area, who had warrants for his arrest, and was known to be on parole. Police contacted Ramirez and arrested him for the warrants. Ramirez was found to possess a fixed bladed, razor type of hand tool concealed on his person, and to be under the influence of methamphetamine. Ramirez was arrested and booked into the County Jail for the warrants, drug influence, and possessing an illegal weapon.

On July 29th at about 3:10 AM Ukiah Police responded to the 700 block of South State Street regarding the report of a woman screaming for help. Police contacted 19 year old Ashley Elizabeth Kochie, and a 25 year old male subject in the area. Police learned the two had been in argument, and that Kochie had scratched the male victim several times in the upper body area. Kochie was also found to have a warrant for her arrest. Kochie was arrested and booked into the County Jail for domestic violence and the arrest warrant.
