UPD Report: String of burglaries continues [The following is an edited version of a press release issued at 9:34 a.m. July 8 by Capt. Justin Wyatt of the Ukiah Police Department.]

The Ukiah Police Department continues to investigate the series of residential and vehicle burglaries occurring in the area. A portion of the residential burglaries have occurred at night, while the occupants were home and sleeping in the house. There has also been an increase in stolen vehicles, again occurring during the night. The Ukiah Police Department urges residents to keep vigilant, to secure their vehicles and homes, and asks if a window or other ventilation source is kept open because of the hot weather, that residents utilize a second story or otherwise inaccessible entry point. Use of security screens and doors is strongly recommended. Leaving keys in the vehicle and windows and doors unsecured and unlocked, makes easy work for burglars and creates unnecessary risk. Please report any suspicious activity by calling 463-6262.
