Highlights for the Week

On August 5th at about 11:30 PM Ukiah Police stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Hastings Avenue. Officers identified the driver as 31 year old Jose Isidro Acosta Muro, of Napa, and found Muro to be unlicensed. Muro was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance, and to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Napa County. Muro was arrested, and a search of his vehicle revealed approximately 2 ounces of marijuana hidden within the engine compartment. Muro was booked into the County Jail for possessing over an ounce of marijuana, being under the influence of a controlled substance, driving without a license, and the Napa County warrant.

On August 6th at about 2:00 PM Ukiah Police responded to the Courthouse regarding a subject behaving strangely. The subject had been reported earlier in the day by another local establishment, where he also exhibited strange behavior and startled the employees. The subject was located near the entrance to the courthouse where several bailiffs were preventing him from entering. The subject, later identified as 30 year old Mario Ulises Gonzalez-Guerrero, appeared highly agitated and reacted inappropriately to questions and directions from the officers. Gonzalez displayed symptoms consistent with excessive drug use, and began to physically resist the officers resulting in a struggle wherein Gonzalez kicked at the officers. Gonzalez was eventually handcuffed, and was further restrained in a device designed to prevent further resistance or assaults. Gonzalez had to be carried by several officers, and attempted to bite the officers in their arms. Gonzalez then twisted his body and grabbed an officers holstered firearm, trying to dislodge it. Gonzalez was taken to the Ukiah Valley Medical Center for treatment regarding his excessive drug use, where he continued to physically resist and struggle. Gonzalez was later booked into the County Jail for resisting arrest, attempting to disarm an officer, and assault against a peace officer.

On August 7th at about 11:20 AM Ukiah Police observed a male and female who appeared to be pushing one another, in the 400 block of Capps lane. Police determined the 16 year old female juvenile had earlier slapped her 16 year old boyfriend in the face, at a residence nearby. The female juvenile was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall for domestic battery.

On August 10th at about 10:50 PM Ukiah Police responded to 680 South State Street regarding a reported assault. Police determined the 18 year old female victim had earlier been hit and kicked by two females in the Yokayo School yard. The victim reported she had been walking by an unidentified male subject in the school field, and the male threw rocks at her. The male later approached the victim and apologized, and the victim told the male to leave her alone. The male walked away but then returned with 6 other subjects. Two 17 year old female juveniles from the group began confronting the victim, and then attacked her hitting and kicking her in the head and body. Following the attack, one of the female suspects threatened the victim with further harm if she reported the attack to police. A Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the Yokayo School field and located a group, who fled on foot. The two female juvenile suspects were eventually located hiding nearby, on Alice Street. The female suspects were identified by the victim and a witness, and were arrested. Both suspects were found to have been drinking alcohol, and were booked into Juvenile Hall for battery and conspiracy. One of the female juveniles was additionally charged with intimidating a victim or witness.

On August 10th at about 3:30 PM Ukiah Police received a report of domestic violence. The female victim reported early in the morning on August 7th she and her husband, 26 year old Tosh Edward Larsen-Willis, engaged in an argument. Willis apparently chocked the victim several times, holding her down, and telling her he was going to kill her. Willis also reportedly punched the victim in the side of her body. The victim sustained visible bruising and later went to the hospital for treatment. Willis later came to the Ukiah Police Department and stated he had been drinking the night of this incident, and admitted to assaulting the victim. Willis was booked into the County Jail for domestic violence, threats, and attempted murder.
